GOFAI’s history, technology, and philosophy is intricately woven into those of games. This is perhaps because of the popular and pervasive influence of personal computing. The most obvious example of this is computer chess.

GOFAI for Game Dev
Chess was one of the first, and most popular, GOFAI games. It remains one of the primary games that is implemented in AI.
One of the very early implementations (1976) was Peter Jennings’ MICROCHESS. He has written the fascinating story of this project.
Back in the day, I actually visited his store/lab, had a chat with Peter, and purchased a copy, even before I bought a KIM-1
